One of the slogans that has always accompanied Clarks says "shoes for people who didn't want to wear shoes". Founded in Street, Somerset (where it is still based today) in 1825 by brothers Cyrus and James, Clarks is the world’s leading "everday shoe" brand. Its most iconic models, such as Wallabee, Desert Boot and Desert Trek have enjoyed great success since the 1930s in Jamaica, Trinidad and the Caribbean, where they became the symbol of subcultural street cred.
